October 1993, MAge Productions began as an unsupported Newton Development Team within MicroAge Computer Center of Tulsa, OK (hence "MAge" Productions). Project leader: Gerald Buckley, Apple Systems Engineer.
Through many changes and reorganizations MAge Productions became unassociated with MicroAge and since January 1995 has been autonomous.
MAge Productions' mission statement:
"Furthering the utility of Newton technologies."
That's as broad, yet defined a statement as could be used and still cover what MAge has intended since day 1: Expand on the Newton platform as a useful daily tool while maintaining the Newton's best features.
To some degree MAge has successfully pigeonholed itself as a NewtonBook producer: these projects are easily assembled, distributed and demonstrated. Yet, as is easily observed, Newton is still in the infancy stages with much more than "books" on the horizon.
MAge intends to participate in the maturing of Newton Technologies in the following respects:
* Continue producing exceptionally high caliber eTexts;
* Expand on the remote connectivity front;
* Offer PCMCIA publishing services;
* Cooperative ventures with communications vendors (specifically - infrared, cellular and paging); and finally
* Vertical market applications development.
